“Charms” is the online access for band. Visit it weekly for updates on the calendar, volunteering, and to keep track of your band fees/payments. From Google: Log on to www.charmsoffice.com and it is the one listed as “Charms Office Assistant”. Next..Go to”Enter” tab, drag down to: Parents/Students Band code: MtVernonHSB, you can look at “Public Calendar” or log-on with to your own student’s account with: Student ID: (your student’s MVHS number used for lunches etc.) Then you can look at the calendar, finances, volunteer sections, or band website which is another way to get information. www.mvbands.org Click on “Mount Vernon School District, WA”. 2. Uniforms and Dress codes for Band students (Write checks to: MVHS Band Booster Group) and turn into Mr. Scherr. MARCHING BAND Students will be fitted for their marching uniforms during band camp. There is a $20 dry-cleaning fee and a $25 cost for the shoes called “Dinkles” or $10 for used Dinkles . Wear something under the uniform that you can easily change into the uniform, such as shorts and tank top. Students also need a lyre to hold the band music while marching. These can be purchased at most music stores for under $10. It is suggested to bring your instrument when buying the lyre to fit it correctly. CONCERT BAND On concert night: boys wear dressy black pants, and white or black dress shirt, black socks and the Dinkle shoe or other black dress shoe. Some may wear a blazer, and/or tie which are not required but encouraged. Girls wear black and white dress or nice black pants or black skirt with white or black dressy top. Concert band dress clothes are needed before the first concert. JAZZ BAND For concerts: Boys typically dress in black dress clothes. They wear dressy black pants, black shirts, and black socks with black dress shoes. Some kids will wear a tie, perhaps a suit jacket, vest or suspenders, but those are optional. Girls wear mostly black dress or nice black pants, skirt/top. Jazz students need to have their dress clothes by the first concert. BAND T-SHIRTS: Cost $15. You can get your t-shirt from Mr. Scherr. This is worn with jeans to band events such as assemblies, basketball games when the band plays, etc. 3. Band Booster Group is the parent support group for band.
