Dear Band Parents,
As we are coming out of the COVID Pandemic and families are filling their schedules with activities for the summer, we would like to make you aware of a special music opportunity. The Mount Vernon High School Band will resume offering a Middle School Summer Band Camp!
(With strict adherence to all COVID safety guidelines)
This camp runs for three hours (9:00am to 12:00pm) each morning for one week Monday, August 16th - Friday, August 20th, 2021, culminating with a 1pm Friday afternoon concert and ice cream social. This Middle School Summer Music Camp provides a unique opportunity for students to continue their musical growth during the summer break.
During camp, students rehearse in a full concert band and participate in group lessons with our knowledgeable high school students, building important ensemble and individual musical skills. This summer camp is a great way for students to enter the next school year excited and ready to go! Through this music enrichment opportunity, your child will continue to build friendships and grow musically with other instrumental music students who share the same passion for playing their instrument.
Participation in the Middle School Summer Band Camp program is open to any band student who are advancing to 7th or 8th grade from ANY school district. The camp fee is $100.00. The fee for the full week of camp is applied toward the cost of sheet music, daily activities and a t-shirt for each student.
If your child would like to join us at our Music Camp, please fill out the registration form (Click here to download the form) and mail it to Mount Vernon Band Boosters, PO Box 1975, Mount Vernon WA, 98273. Please make checks payable to “MVHS Band and Orchestra Boosters" with your child's FIRST and LAST name and GRADE ENTERING in the memo. Do not send cash.
All music and links to recordings will be emailed at the beginning of August, so it is very important that we have a working email address. Students will be asked to practice and learn the emailed sheet music to the best of their ability prior to the beginning of camp to ensure musical success. COVID Guidelines Information
We will adhere any covid guidelines that are in place during the time of this camp. That could involve performance masks, bell covers, spacing and ventilation. If we or a student needs to cancel camp or not attend do to COVID concerns we will refund the payment minus the cost of a camp t-shirt ($10.00) if the shirt has been ordered.
Mount Vernon School District Waver:
I acknowledge that this activity entails known and unanticipated risks which could result in physical or emotional injury, paralysis or death, as well as damage to property, or to third parties. I understand that such risks simply cannot be eliminated without jeopardizing the essential qualities of the activity. I certify that my child has no medical or physical conditions which could interfere with his/her safety in this activity. I authorize qualified emergency medical professionals to examine and in the event of injury or serious illness, administer emergency care to the above named student. I understand every effort will be made to contact me to explain the nature of the problem prior to any involved treatment. In the event it becomes necessary for the school district staff-in-charge to obtain emergency care for my student, neither s/he nor the district assumes financial liability for expenses incurred because of the accident, injury, illness and/or unforeseen circumstances.
